late night ramblings
November 4, 2009 at 1:29 am | In daily ramblings | 3 CommentsHere is a list of the places that feel like to home to me, ranked in order:
#1: The place where I’ve been spending most of my time and all of my energy lately:

#2: The place that brings order, cleanliness and comfort to my life:

And #3: My actual home.
The theme of this winter is preparedness. I’m not going to sit around and wait until my skin is all cracked and my nose is bleeding, no! I’m intensively moisturizing NOW. I’m going to head it off at the pass, so to speak. I’m not going to wait around until my toes are numb and I get have to wear gloves while watching tv. We’re prepping. We got this awesome putty weather sealer stuff and we’ve shoved it all around the window frames, and then we’re going to put that hideous plastic stuff over THAT, and M. came home tonight with not one but two space heaters. Because this winter I am thirty years old and I’m not going to spend the winter shivering and crying and then getting frostbite in the places where my icy tears froze on my cheeks, like my 26 year old self would have.
All of our winter preparations might make you think, “But Medium, I thought you were buying a house soon.” Yeah…we are…we just have to FIND it first. We’ve been slacking on the home search the past couple of weeks, but we’re getting back into it. I’m still hoping maybe we’ll find it by the end of the year.
Guess what? Monday was our SIX MONTH wedding anniversary. That’s right, six whole months, boy could we tell you a few things about marriage. We celebrated this milestone by saying, “Hey guess what, we’ve been married six months,” and then probably watching an episode of the Office.
This weekend we attended Lucas’s third birthday. You want to know what age is a really awesome one? Age three. Picture this: Every time he opened a present, he held it out and said, “Ta-da!” Which is really what everyone should do when they open presents.
Sunday M. and I went out to run some errands, and before we left I put on my makeup which looked perfectly nice if I do say so, and then we had this conversation:
M: Your makeup is noticeable.
S: “Noticeable?” Noticeable. Do you understand that that is not a compliment?
M: Well I think you look good without makeup.
S: Why do you not understand this!?!?
Can someone please explain the problem with this conversation to him for me? I’m tired. Thanks.
And now that I have expressed some exasperation with M., here’s a six-months list of some things that make him really good to be married to:
- He’s started filling up my water glass for me pretty regularly. Sounds like a small thing but is actually awesome.
- He also fills up the Brita a lot. Nothing better than a full Brita.
- He is always willing to give a back rub or scratch and to do so according to very exacting specifications.
- He doesn’t think that I should always be the one to cook, and he makes a few things that are quite delightful.
- He pretty much always has my back and is my supporter. Excellent thing in a husband.
- He likes to watch Jeopardy with me. Agrees with me that pausing the show is allowed.
So I’ve been working late a lot lately, and I have this thing where when I get home late, I can’t adjust accordingly and go to bed on time. I really need to have like three or four good hours of time in the evening. It’s the time when I’m not working, also known as the time when I’m free and can live my actual life. So I’m not willing to forgo any of that time just to get a good night’s sleep. So for example, tonight I got home from work a little after 8. So, now it’s almost 12:30 and I’m staying up too late, and to do what? I’m writing this post because doing this is part of my free, selfish, quiet time. In fact, I think this did the trick and I can call it a night.
How are you guys doing?

YEAH I do…but it’s an “unsupported” printer…kind of a black market, underground printer. So do not tell, thanks.
